RE: home games tomorrow night

Jeanine,

I will help Susan during the first 45 minutes of the 14U game. I will be
back later for the 18U game but would like to just watch if that is
possible. I will check when I arrive to see what the need is.

Thanks,
Lucy

Re: home games tomorrow night

There will be concessions tonight at the admissions table.  All this really means is that it would be nice to have two people sitting there so one doesn't have to deal with both things.

I cannot be there until about 6:30 but my family will bring the cash bag and concessions by 5:45.  I need volunteers to attend the table for me.

Just to confirm, our first game tomorrow starts at 2pm in Lebanon. Those
wanting to travel together will leave from Kroger parking lot at 12:30. If
you need a ride, reply all to this message and see who can give you a ride.
I do have room for four more, and one person already asked for one of the
seats. Whoever that was please remind me who you are. See you tomorrow,

Coach Dan Hall

Just to confirm, our first game tomorrow starts at 2pm in Lebanon.  Those wanting to travel together will leave from Kroger parking lot at 12:30.  If you need a ride, reply all to this message and see who can give you a ride.  I do have room for four more, and one person already asked for one of the seats.  Whoever that was please remind me who you are.  See you tomorrow,

Coach Dan Hall

RE: lodging information

Hi Dawn,

Thanks to Jan Farthing for the research.  Once question.  I will likely take along some of my younger children and make it a weekend trip.  Do you happen to notice if any of them have an indoor pool?  I checked the Ozark Mtn Inn website below and they have a pool, but outdoor and likely closed or too cold to swim.  I would be happy to follow-up, but thought I would check with you/Jan first.

Thanks,

Karvel

Thanks to Jan Farthing for doing some research on lodging options in Harrison, AR. Here is what she found out.

For 2 adults and 2 children:

  • Days Inn - $64.99 plus tx
  • Super 8 - $56.00  plus tx
  • Budget Inn - $49.95  plus tx
  • Ozark Mtn Inn will give us a group rate because we are a sports team. It's $37.28 including tax! This includes a continental breakfast.  www.arkweb.com/OzMtnInn/  This is where we would like to stay. Obviously if everyone would stay there, we can get the cheaper rate.  Their regular rate is $45.19 inc. tax.

We feel this is such a phenomenal rate that we are going to go ahead and reserve 12 rooms for our group at the Ozark Mountain Inn, as long as they will allow us to cancel if that is too many. Of course, any family may choose to make different plans, but at least we have something to start with.

We'll be working on details in the next week or so; please let us know what your family's plan is.

Re: practice tonight, games tomorrow

Sorry, I missed Susan Hohman's message.  She wants to help Judy with the first game so we have that game covered.  If anyone wants to help with the other two games, it would be appreciated.

Practices "as usual" for boys and girls tonight at the junior high school

Tomorrow's games are NOT at the junior high, but at Mark Twain Elementary School, and they will begin at 5 pm. We need helpers as usual, for taking admissions and selling concessions, and for helping with score keeping. Contact Jeanine Maxwell if you can help with admissions or concessions.

I have Lee Robertson on the scoreboard -- Terry, can you keep the book Friday night? Anyone else if he can't?

RE: Season End Event

Whatever we do, let’s have the kids wear their uniforms so we can get team pictures.  Anyone have a good digital camera who could shoot them and email or post them to the web?

Please put Monday, March 8th on your calendars for an end-of-the-basketball season event...

We figured we'd stay with the "usual" basketball schedule, and do something between 6 and 9 pm, perhaps at the junior high... no decision yet on exactly what we are going to do. Anyone who is interested in planning/coordinating the event, please let me know!

End of Season tournament info

End of Season Tournament

DETAILS:

Who: 8 boys' teams, 7 girls' teams

What: double elimination tournament - everyone gets at least 2 games

When: March 5, 6

Where: Harrison, AR

How: drive 180 miles each way, stay over night somewhere, male and female adult chaperones/drivers

Why: because we love building character, skills, teamwork and competition

As we approach the end of our basketball season our girls' team has been a consistent winner especially against conference teams, and our boys are 3 & 3 in conference games, and two of those losses are against the same team (Whetstone) that is not planning to go to the conference tournament.

A recent change is that the entire tournament will be held in Harrison, Arkansas. That doesn't really affect our plans, because if we have a Friday game, we would be staying overnight anyway. This just means a longer single drive on Friday.

We are planning to take both boys and girls U18 teams. Now we just need to work on arrangements, since we know that some of the families cannot go along and that some of the players may have conflicts.

At this point, we need to know

#1 – which 18U (Varsity) players from each team (boys and girls) are going

#2 – which players will need to room with someone other than family

#3 – which parents/families are planning to go and need a room

#4 – which parents/families going would be able/willing to accommodate an extra player in their room

We will look into booking rooms as a group to get a discount rate.  We would like an adult in each room if possible, so we'd like as many parents as possible to go.

Please discuss this with your coaches, your family and others that it might affect, and let us know the answers to the above questions ASAP.

Thanks,

Dan & Dawn Hall

Is there anyone who can pick Austin up at Sherwin Williams and take him to the K-mart parking lot?  He obviously needs a ride from K-mart to the game as well.

Directions:
Take Highway 63 south from Rolla to Houston. In Houston, turn right on Highway 17 -- there is a light at that intersection. Go several miles west on Highway 17 until you see a big building in the middle of nowhere. That is Faith Fellowship church.

Note:
This is a carpeted gym. If you have access to knee pads, you may want to wear them to protect your knees! Coach Hall also suggested wearing ankle braces if you have them, since I guess playing on carpet can be hard on the ankles.
