rescheduling games...
Too bad the snow couldn't have waited til tomorrow, so we could get this game against Fulton in.
I am trying to figure out possible rescheduling dates for this game as well as dates that we might be able to schedule one or two more games. However, the bits and pieces of information that I've heard about different schedules and availability makes me wonder if we will be able to find a date that works for the majority of the team! Since we didn't have anything on the calendar, people have started making other commitments, and I'm afraid we may just have to call it a season.
But, we are going to see if we can work something out....I've started with the head coaches' availability. Now we need to check on players. Just to clarify, we are talking about Varsity Boys, and Gold Team Girls
Please reply to this email ASAP and tell me which of these dates WOULD NOT work. If you have already told me, you don't have to again...
Thurs, March 5
Friday, March 6 (girls only)
Saturday, March 7
Monday, March 9 (boys only)
Thursday, March 12
Friday, March 13
Saturday, March 14
Obviously, we had scheduled the end-of-year recognition night for Friday, March 13th, but that isn't set in stone...
Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Pictures, and End of the Year
Right now, it looks like Friday, March 13th is going to be our end-of-the-year recognition night. We are hoping to get the Junior High facility, and have the use of the gym and cafeteria there. Our tentative schedule will be as follows:
6-6:30 JH Boys vs. Dads/Older Brothers Game
6:30-7:15 Potluck Dinner and Fellowship Time
7:15 - 8 Player and Coaches Recognition
8 - 8:30 Girls vs. Moms/Older Sisters Game
8:30 - 9:30 Varsity Boys vs. Dads
For the potluck, RHAA will provide paper goods and drinks. Please e-mail me as to whether you family is able to come, and a rough estimate of how many people you will have coming.
Remember, uniforms need to be turned in at this date, if you haven't already. Girls and Varsity Boys - please don't wear your uniform for the scrimmage - we will plan to use the gold practice jerseys (for the girls) and the older jerseys that Hickles have (for the guys). JH Boys - please bring your uniform, if you still have it, and we may or may not use them for the games in the evening. If we do use them, our family will just take them home and take care of washing them. Also, we'll hand out the pictures (if we have them in by then).
As always, ask if you have any questions! I hope that everyone can make this date - it's always a great wrap-up to the season, and a wonderful chance to fellowship with other families.

Varsity and JH Boys, and Gold Girls --
Well, inevitably, we have had a schedule change since that supposed "final" e-mail. :)
Because of some facility issues on the Lebanon side of things, our games tomorrow (Monday, Feb. 23rd) are going to be played at Camden Christian School, IN Camdenton (same location as Thursday night - Varsity Guys, it's the same place we usually play Camdenton, check website for directions). We will still be playing against the Lebanon Rockets. Our games will be played at the following times (notice time changes, 30 minutes later) --
6:00 pm - JH Boys
7:00 pm - GOLD Girls
8:15 pm - Varsity Boys
Camdenton is a little further than Lebanon (1:15 rather than 1:00), but the games have been moved back 30 minutes, so here are departure times --
Halls (and any JH Boys families) leaving Rolla from Kroger at 4:15 pm.
Girls need to leave by 5:15
Varsity Guys by 6:30
Please reply to this so that we know you got the message! Also, let us know your driving plans.
Thanks in advance for being flexible, and sorry if this causes any problems for you.

Final February Update
Tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 19th) - Practice at Wyman Elementary, *4-5:30 pm*
Friday, Feb. 20th - Game vs. Springfield, 8:15 pm, Rolla Junior High
Monday, Feb. 23rd - Game in Lebanon, 7:45 pm
- Halls will be leaving from Kroger at 4:00 pm for the JH boys' game. We recommend that you leave by 6:15 pm for your game. Usually the Hickles have room, so if you are in need of a ride, start with giving them a call!
- The game will be played at the Cowan Civic Center, directions are posted on the website
Thursday, Feb. 26th - *Pictures* and Game vs. Houston Warriors, 7:15 pm, Rolla Junior High
- PICTURE DAY! We will be having them taken directly before the game. Location: Avalon Studio in downtown Rolla, 110 W. 8th St., right down from Alex's Pizza (the studio was formerly Kent Jewelery). Those of you who are interested in an individual picture, please arrive at 6:15 pm, dressed in your uniform. If you are not interested in an individual shot, then please arrive at 6:30 pm, in your uniform, for the team photo. Remember, for a team and individual, the price is $12.00. Attached is an order form with pricing on additional prints.
- The Halls will be leaving Rolla from OAT Theatre at 12:45 for the girls game. We suggest that you leave Rolla by 2 pm. (For those in Pirates, Mrs. Nisbett is aware of the timing of this game and is going to schedule around it for you. :) Again, get in touch with the Hickles if you are in need of a ride.
- Games will be played at the MO School for the Deaf, directions on the website. This is our last scheduled event of the season.
- We are working on scheduling a few more games for you guys (but not having a whole lot of luck so far. . .). If everyone would look at your calendars and e-mail us any known conflicts these first few weeks of March, that would be extremely helpful. We will keep you posted.
- We will also plan to have an end-of-the-year recognition pot-luck/parent vs. kid game (? depending on what the parents are up for. . .) sometime early in March. Right now, the dates we are looking at are: -- Sunday afternoon or evening, March 8th -- Friday night, March 13th -- Sunday afternoon or evening, March 15th. Please let us know if you have known conflicts for any of these dates! We will keep you posted on what we decide.
Thanks, Becky

RE: Tuesday night games
I will be taking Emily. My Grandmother lives in Houston, so we will be visiting her before or after. We would be willing to take up to 5 with us as long as they wouldn’t mind either going a little earlier, or waiting to return a little later. (My Grandma is in the nursing home, and we would only stay about 30 min.)

Boy, do I (and Ryan) remember that carpet!!!!!
Thanks again, we'll drive straight from our home south of Salem. It's less than 40 miles to Houston, so it is one of our shorter drives -- about 43-44 miles. We'll plan to arrive during the girls game. Do we know what color they'll wear? Should we bring practice whites?

Games will be held at Faith Fellowship Church (the same place as last year, for those who went). It is a carpeted gym, so we highly recommend knee pads if you have them to wear -- several of our players ended up with some pretty bad rug burns last year.
To carpool, meet at the Rolla Kmart Parking Lot -- girls meet at 4:30 pm/ guys at 5:30 pm.
- Girls: Only Abby and Becky are going from the Hall family, but our 12 psgr van is available to go, if an adult will drive it. Otherwise, our daughters will need a ride with someone else.
- Guys: The Hickles have 7 seats available in their van
To ease our minds that everyone is covered, please let us know what your plans are for getting to the games. Thanks!

Re: national tournament?
Rod
It is fairly clear that we going to the National tournament is not something we should pursue at this point, but everyone seems to be in favor of extending the season to play some more games.
I'm not sure why I was so optimistic about being able to schedule more, since I really don't know beyond the SWMO Eagles -- but I will get on that right away and see what we can work out. Unless I hear differently, I am going to work on Monday, Thursday and/or Friday evenings for games.

Re: another thought
Rick
I like the idea of scheduling more games. In addition to other teams such as the Eagles or Ava, perhaps we could have one or more formal scrimmages against some of the guys coming off of the high school team, such as Ben Stickler, as soon as their season is over. We will improve as we play against fast skilled players, and we can get that locally once the H.S. season ends.
Debbie and I are willing to participate in the tournament if all others do, but we would probably prefer the option of scheduling some more games in lieu of the week-long tournament.
We would be interested though in driving down for the championship game, which I assume is on Saturday. Maybe a group can caravan down for that if others are interested.
Thanks,

Teams that are going to nationals may be looking for games to stay sharp, and may even be willing to come to us to play. But even if we have to travel, it isn't much different than commuting to Springfield for nationals.
The SWMO Eagles have already asked if we want any more games this season, and I'm guessing we might also be able to schedule the Springfield Knights. I've heard Ava is going--we've played them before, but didn't get a game scheduled this year. I am open to suggestions on other teams that are a good match for us -- if anyone has a chance to look at the nationals website and see who is registered, that would be a good place to look for teams.
Just a thought to throw into the mix!

Sure hope there are 18 & U slots open so we can get our varsity boys in the mix. Is the team entry fee an obstacle?

Hi Varsity families and players –
We are exploring the possibility of sending our Varsity boys team to the National Championship Tournament, which is being held in Springfield, Missouri this year. However, it is a big commitment that would need to be made by all of the families involved if it is going to work.
We'd like to talk to all of you briefly after the game on Saturday(tomorrow) to determine if this is something we should pursue further. But because timing is critical (we are already on the late side of making a decision), I've decided to send out a brief overview of what would be involved so you have an opportunity to give it some thought before we meet to talk about it.
Schedule:
¨ Monday, March 16 – 2:30 pm through Saturday, March 21st
¨ Will play 5 games, starting on Monday night
¨ First two games in Division II pool play – teams ranked 33-64 in the 18U division. Our play in those two games will determine which bracket we play in for Thurs/Fri/Sat games. I think they place teams into 4 different brackets of 8 teams each.
¨ Games are played in the afternoons and evenings – they have speakers in the mornings that are geared to the entire family (at least they have in the past)
Costs:
¨ Team registration cost is $425
¨ Individual registration is $30 – t-shirt and program
¨ Housing (or a lot of driving back and forth) – looks like it would be needed Monday night, and then Thurs/Fri nights (from what I can see, Wed is an off day for games..
¨ Food
Options:
¨ Individual players who are interested in going can register to play on Team USA, made up of individuals whose teams aren't participating… the advantage here is that those 16 and younger could register 16U instead of 18U. I don't think there is any team registration for that.
¨ Go to watch games one or two nights (the 18U boys Division I is very high quality basketball, and worth going to see for sure!)
Here are some personal thoughts on this. Our son Andy attended this tournament twice when it was held in Oklahoma City, playing with the Lebanon Rockets organization. Dan attended the first year, and I the second, and both of us were very impressed with the organization and the way they run the tournament. We have mentioned this in past years as a possibility, but we understand it is a big commitment of time and resources, and we have not pushed it. It being in Springfield makes it more accessible, but the commitment is still big. We have not promoted participation this year because personally we have conflicts that week, but our presence is not required. If there is enough interest, we will do what we can to help make this a reality.
There are a bunch of deadlines this weekend, including signing up for housing at discounted rates negotiated by the tournament at local hotels. It was recommended to me that we make reservations if we think at all we will want to stay in hotels…. They can be canceled later. The online housing deadline is 5 PM tonight, though, so it would need to be done immediately. If someone wants to do that on behalf of the group, that may be wise. Or we can search out other options for housing, which is a good possibility--I've already made an initial contact with our volleyball coach who has contacts in Springfield, both churches and individuals with large homes.
If you want to find out more or register for housing, you can look at the website: http://www.homeschoolbasketball.com/
Look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow!

We do not yet have a picture date and time scheduled, since the photographer is out of town this week. I'm trying to schedule it before a game or practice, so it doesn't necessitate an extra trip.
Practice tonight
Practice tonight, Junior high, 7 - 9 pm
Game Saturday, about 5 pm at the Junior High
Coach Hickle would also like to have a "game after the game" for the Varsity, taking on adults and young men!

game tonight
We will start as soon after 6 pm as we can get everything ready. I'm pretty sure the school teams will be practicing until 5:30 pm, so I don't know what time we will actually be able to get into the gym. Please lay low until it appears the building is pretty much cleared out -- they really don't want us to overlap the school teams, which is why we aren't supposed to start using the facility until 6:00 pm
Another email is coming with updates for the rest of the month. We have several schedule adjustments and clarifications to make.

Pictures coordinator needed
Becky suggested we solicit a volunteer(s) to coordinate this project. We will set the date, but the the volunteer(s) would:
- distribute order forms to all players ahead of time
- attend the picture session, collect forms and payment
- arrange with photographer to pickup photos when ready
- distribute finished pictures to players
Please let us know if you can help in this way, and we'll pass along all the necessary information.

Team/individual pictures?
Basic cost is $12 for an 8x10 team photo and a 5x7 individual photo in a nice folder. Additional pictures, including "trading cards" can also be purchased.
We'll only schedule pictures if enough people are interested, but we'd like everyone to be there even if you aren't planning on buying pictures. We will definitely try to find a time to schedule doesn't involve another trip to town!
Please respond to this email by Monday if you are interested.
