Re: another thought

The Brown's prefer adding additional local games over going to the national tournament due to the time commitment.  And can't guarantee participation in a bunch of additional games at the end of the season - but if they are local games it would help in that regard.

I like the idea of scheduling more games.  In addition to other teams such as the Eagles or Ava, perhaps we could have one or more formal scrimmages against some of the guys coming off of the high school team, such as Ben Stickler, as soon as their season is over.  We will improve as we play against fast skilled players, and we can get that locally once the H.S. season ends.

Debbie and I are willing to participate in the tournament if all others do, but we would probably prefer the option of scheduling some more games in lieu of the week-long tournament.

We would be interested though in driving down for the championship game, which I assume is on Saturday.  Maybe a group can caravan down for that if others are interested.

On my way home, I thought of another "option", since it sounds like the biggest draw about the national tournament is getting more games. There are two weeks between the end of our season (currently Feb 28) and nationals.  How about we try to schedule 4-6 more games in those two weeks? Teams that are going to nationals may be looking for games to stay sharp, and may even be willing to come to us to play. But even if we have to travel, it isn't much different than commuting to Springfield for nationals.

The SWMO Eagles have already asked if we want any more games this season, and I'm guessing we might also be able to schedule the Springfield Knights. I've heard Ava is going--we've played them before, but didn't get a game scheduled this year.  I am open to suggestions on other teams that are a good match for us -- if anyone has a chance to look at the nationals website and see who is registered, that would be a good place to look for teams.

Just a thought to throw into the mix!
